Anxiety. Stress. Worry. These reactions have been part of my adult life for too many years. Raising a child with special needs is never what any mother expects, but this was God’s chosen path for me. I have faced feelings of difficulty, guilt, embarrassment, and feeling “less-than” as a competent parent taking care of my only son.
God has been patiently working with me for the past eight months, showing me through Bible study and prayer, how to deal with my anxiety each day as it enters my life.
Let me share part of a passage from The Message Bible – Philippians 4: 6-9:
“Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns… God who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.”
When I accepted God’s control over my life and let go of my own “so-called control”, I have found peace within myself. Each day we make the choice to accept God’s grace and to have faith in Him and in ourselves. He is always there, waiting for us to invite him into our hearts.
