Power Filled Words

By: Cathy Morrow

How many times do we say, “I can’t because…”, “Im never going to….” or “It seems like nothing is going right for me.” Words of worry and fear will have you feeling defeated and deflated before anything actually happens in our lives. We often pray and ask God for blessings and favor but then confess the lack thereof to our friends and loved ones.

I was told to speak positively not negatively. The Truth is we should speak with Faith Filled words based upon scripture. Our words should be packed with the promises of God. Mark 11:23 says, “Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him.”

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). When we speak the Power Filled Words of God, it activates our faith.  Proverbs 18:21 states, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”  Let us be mindful of the words we speak over our lives for they can have the power to hold our destiny.

  1. As I read this Devotion and the Scriptures confirming its content, I was reminded of the question often asked when viewing a glass of water. Is the glass half empty or half full? What we speak and how we view life may depend on how we see the glass. The glass, from a Positive view is half full and from a Negative view is half empty. I choose to Speak Positive words that the glass is half full. May we say without offending, “Speak positive words or don’t speak at all.” Our spoken words have an impact on others and cant be taken back once spoken. It confirms an old but not outdated lesson from our predecessors, “Think before we speak”. Have a Blessed Day.
