New Commitments

By Lily Shawhan

Life has been challenging for all the past 2 years since Covid-19 entered our world.  I took this time to reflect and thankfully came to some very enlightening realizations about the way I have chosen to live and serve our Savior, Jesus Christ.  I am grateful to be alive today thanks to God’s continued blessings.  I am entering 2022 with a commitment to new beginnings.

Let me share a reading from the King James Version – Psalm 51:10  Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”

Father, draw me close to Your heart. I open-up my heart to You, and I invite You to search me and renew my spirit. Bring me into alignment with Your Spirit. Thank You for the work You do in me. Teach me Your ways, Father. Reveal to me any area that I am not in agreement with Your Word. I pray for a deep revelation and understanding of Your truth. I trust You Father and love that I can open my heart up to You. I know that Your love is unconditional, and everlasting.

I am moving forward with mindfulness of my actions and words.  I commit to be more patient, more forgiving, show more kindness to others, and make the time to tell friends and family members how much I love them and how much they mean to me.  Life is too short, and we tend to forget what is most important to us.

Friends, I ask you to reflect on what you have been through this past year and take the time to use your experiences and grow from them as you move forward.  This is my commitment to myself and to my Savior Jesus Christ.  I am consciously striving for a better existence on this Earth to serve others.  I, therefore, challenge you to make the same commitment to yourself and to our Savior.
