Know Thy Self

By: Antwone O’Quinn

Beloved, please always assess who you are and question your motives. Never accept anything less than who your identity in the Lord. Continuously raise the bar for yourself and never compare yourselves to anyone but Christ. Be gentle and forgive yourself because God has. Don’t be afraid to admit your shortcomings to God, for He already knows; however, don’t accept them as anything but what God is delivering you from. We have been freed and like Juneteenth, our minds may not have accepted the truth because it is too good to believe.

Are you spiritually dry or experiencing church burn out? Is the highlight of your Sunday singing and socializing? Has your service for God replaced your time with God? Do you seek God mostly to satisfy your wants and your will, asking for your will to be His, seeking His hand and not His heart? Has intimacy with God been replaced by rules and dead works? Is your natural default love and forgiveness or judgment and condemnation?

I Cor. 13:4-8 says, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails….”

You have been made in the image of God. You are sons and daughters of God. Always remember who you are and know your “why”! If perhaps your why is out of alignment with God, simply course correct. Relax and remember to enjoy your relationship with Him. You have a father that loves and enjoys your company.
