With February being the month of Valentine’s, I must admit… I’ve been a little tied up with the word Love. I’ve been pondering on Love and what the scriptures say about it. A couple of days ago, I joined a group called Meaningful Conversations. One of the topics discussed was titled “Is Love Something You Do?” As much as I tried to stay away from Corinthians 13:4-8, I couldn’t because that’s exactly what Love is. It is an action word. That’s why the scriptures say God is a jealous God because we all have a choice, daily, to spend time with God or not. God wants to know if you can find time for the blessings, He has given you, why can’t you find time for the one who blessed you?
We’ve all been guilty occasionally of putting God on the back burner. I remember telling a friend how I never want to put my blessings before God, because I know that He’s the one that got me where I am. The reason God becomes jealous is because sometimes we tend to take our eyes off of Him and instead focus on material things. I challenge all of us this week to let Love be what we do. Let us show our Love to God by not just speaking His word, but reading His word, praying and meditating on it day and night. Take out a paper and number it 1-7. Write one way next to each number you are going to show an act of Love to God our heavenly Father. If you are struggling with making a list, let me remind you of His ultimate act of Love… “For God so Loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son.” God’s not asking us to sacrifice a life however, He is asking us to sacrifice our time. Let’s all answer the call this week and let Love be something we do. Blessings family.
